How Proposed EPA Numerical Nutrient Criteria Will Affect Florida Consumers

According to a Gainesville Regional Utilities survey of 18 utilities throughout the state, current median monthly combined water and wastewater bill = $56.
Projected median monthly combined water and wastewater bill = $118.
Cost to implement EPA requirements will make water and wastewater costs unaffordable for Floridians in poverty.
According to AWARF, water and wastewater costs less than 4% of household income are considered "affordable" - that's $73.50 for a family of 4 at the poverty level. At $118 a month, water and wastewater costs would be unaffordable for the 12.1% of Floridians at or below the poverty level.
